HMS H 43 (Lt. R.B. Lakin, DSC, RN) conducted A/S exercises off Lough Foyle with HMCS Summerside (T/Lt. F.O. Gerity, RCNR) and HMS Abelia (T/Lt. F. Ardern, RNR). (1)
29 Oct 1942
HMCS Rosthern (T/Lt. R.J.G. Johnson, RCNVR) and HMCS Summerside (T/Lt. F.O. Gerity, RCNR) together pick up survivors from the American tanker Pan New York that was torpedoed and damaged by German U-boat U-624 in the North Atlantic about 550 nautical miles west of Malin Head in position 54°58'N, 23°56'W. The corvettes sank the wrecked tanker with gunfire and depth charges.

HMS H 32 (Lt. K.S. Renshaw, DSC, RNR) conducted A/S exercises off Lough Foyle with HMS Goathland (Lt.Cdr. B.G.B. Bordes, DSC, RN) and HMCS Summerside (T/Lt. G. St. A.Mongenais, RCNVR). (2)
