A depth charge attack carried out by the US destroyer escort USS Bronstein in the North Atlantic, in position 48°55'N, 26°10'W, was actually directed against a non-sub target and could not have been responsible for the destruction of the German U-boat U-603 as earlier thought.

German U-boat U-441 was badly damaged north of the Azores, in position 49°10'N, 26°00'W, by depth charges from the US destroyer escorts USS Thomas, USS Bostwick and USS Bronstein. This attack was earlier credited with the destruction of U-709.
17 Mar 1944
German U-boat U-801 was sunk in the mid-Atlantic near the Cape Verde Islands, in position 16°42'N, 30°28'W, by a Fido homing torpedo from 2 Avenger aircraft (VC-9) of the US escort carrier USS Block Island and depth charges and gunfire from the US destroyer USS Corry and the US destroyer escort USS Bronstein.
