USS Trepang (Cdr. Allen Russell Faust) departed from Pearl Harbor for her 3rd war patrol, and was ordered to patrol of Honshu, Japan.

USS Trepang (Cdr. A.R. Faust) torpedoed and sank the Japanese merchant cargo ship Uzuki Maru (875 GRT) north-north-east of Mikizaki, Japan in position 32°40'N, 132°33'E.

3 Mar 1945 (position 34.05, 139.54)
USS Trepang (Cdr. A.R. Faust) torpedoed and sank the Japanese auxiliary gunboat Nissho Maru No.2 (1386 GRT) off Mijake Jima, Japan in position 34°05'N, 139°54'E. Trepang ended her 3rd war patrol at Guam.

While on her 4th war patrol USS Trepang (Cdr. A.R. Faust) torpedoed and sank the Japanese minesweeper W 20 (648 tons, offsite link) in the Yellow Sea about 140 nautical miles south-east of Mokpo, Korea in position 34°16'N, 123°37'E. Trepang ended her 4th war patrol at Guam.

While on her 5th war patrol USS Trepang (Cdr. A.R. Faust) torpedoed and sank the Japanese merchant cargo ship Koun Maru No.2 (606 GRT) east of Japan in position 42°21'N, 141°28'E.

14 Jul 1945 (position 38.43, 141.53)
While on her 5th war patrol USS Trepang (Cdr. A.R. Faust) sank a small Japanese vessel with gunfire east of Honshu, Japan in position 38°43'N, 141°53'E. Trepang ended her 5th war patrol at Pearl Harbor.
