HMS Cleopatra (Capt. J.F. Stevens, RN) was torpedoed and heavily damaged off Sicily in position 37°06'N, 16°04'E by the Italian submarine Dandolo (offsite link). She was patched up at Malta and left for the United States for permanent repairs in October 1943. There repairs were completed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in November 1944.
